A new Regus workspace has opened in Santo Domingo at a time of growing demand for flexible and mobile working

Regus – the world’s largest provider of flexible workspace – has opened up its first serviced offices in the Dominican Republic, one of the fastest-evolving economies in the Caribbean and Latin America.

Regus Roble Corporate Centre has launched in the island’s dynamic capital of Santo Domingo, offering even more choice for Regus members – who can make use of any of the network’s Regus locations in more than 120 countries around the globe.

The network expansion brings entrepreneurs cutting-edge flexible office space in the heart of the island’s capital Santo Domingo. Regus’ Dominican Republic debut occupies a sleek glass tower on Winston Churchill Avenue – the city’s main commercial road.

The space will be run by Megatron as part of a wider partnership deal. CEO John Schmidt recommended the space for its centrality and influence in the local business community. “It’s state of the art and will set the bar high for any of our competitors, compelling many company owners to throw their existing office keys right on the table.”

Easily accessible from Las Americas International Airport, the space is a five-minute bus ride from the nearest subway and suburban train stations. With the vibrant and well-heeled Piantini district on its doorstep, members can pop into the Acrópolis Center Shopping Mall across the road, stop by the Palacio del Cine cinema after work, or relax amid the tranquility of the nearby Forest of Life Park.

Regus members have 24-hour access to all manner of contemporary, workspace arrangements – private offices, bookable meeting rooms and co-working space all of them temperature-controlled, and with high-speed Wi-Fi. Regus Roble Corporate Centre also has an on-site café, secure underground parking and friendly staff on hand to support Regus members with whatever they need.

Over the past five years, the Dominican Republic has enjoyed an average of 5.1% economic growth – the second-highest in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). Tourism, agriculture, mining and textile production have traditionally been the backbone of the nation’s industry. But growing investment is transforming the island into a production, gaming and data hub for the LAC region.

The Dominican Republic is also gaining momentum as a hot location for film and TV production, fuelled by the 25% break it allows for international productions. Currently, 25 films are made on the island each year, with the BBC and Netflix choosing to shoot series there in recent months.

The government’s focus on improving business infrastructure and empowering local entrepreneurs will be a further catalyst for growth. Not only will international talent increasingly flock to the Dominican Republic for short-term projects, but its entrepreneurial climate will benefit from the island-wide 5G connection that’s reportedly in the pipeline.

All of these things create the right conditions for a flexible working culture. And Regus is ahead of the curve and ready to welcome local companies and entrepreneurs – as well as travelling Regus customers, who can call any Regus Centre in the world their office.

The Dominican Republic is on the brink of a co-working boom. Regus’ presence brings the expertise and signature service it’s known for, making mobile working possible in another exciting destination as part of the group’s ever-expanding network of flexible office space.
